Back to school shopping can feel daunting, time consuming and expensive but this year I was organised, shopped smart and purchased everything I needed for my two children at Rockingham Centre. I was involved in a Back to School challenge whereby I received a $250 gift card for each of my kids to buy everything they needed during the one visit.

$500 is a decent budget but I had a lot to buy and I do have expensive taste so I knew I had to make the most of my shopping skills to successfully complete the challenge. To prepare I gathered the stationary book lists and crossed off any items that we already had then I made a list of all the additional items I needed to shop for. I was ready to hit the shops and determined to get everything on the one day.

Backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles and pencil cases are all opportunities for kids to express their individuality. Smiggle has fashion-forward stationery with designs that perfectly match my kids’ interests; gaming for my 10 year old son and unicorns for my 7 year old daughter. The fantastic store promotions helped me justify buying exactly what my kids would love over lower priced options and I am left feeling satisfied with my purchases.

Finding all of the stationery items on the school book lists can feel like mission impossible but The Lucky Charm had everything I needed including those difficult to find items such as graph paper and A3 art displays books. All the hard work of picking the stationery was even done for me while I continued on shopping! It’s a free service they offer and depending on their work load it can be done in as little as an hour otherwise a later date pickup is arranged.  The Lucky Charm are the preferred stationery partner for 4 local schools and they service all others, beating the book list total by 10%. I saved over $30, time and hassle by taking my lists to TLC rather than heading to our school’s preferred supplier!

A new school year deserves new shoes. Jim Kidd Sports offered the best value for money. I found a pair of quality ASICS sports shoes for each of my kids at a fantastic prices.

The cost of uniforms can add up fast so I hunted for bargains. Best & Less had polo shirts starting from $2 and shorts and skirts from $6. I wasn’t lying when I said I have expensive taste! I opted for the stylish Teflon fabric shorts which I felt were still a good price. I used the last of the budget to replenish the supply of socks and hair accessories which all mysteriously disappeared by the end of last year.

Best & LessDaughter – Shorts x 2 $12, Polo Shirt $2, Socks $7.70, Hair Accessories $10 | Son – Shorts x 2 $40, Polo Shirt $2, Socks $15.90

Everything I needed for back to school was at Rockingham Centre and I proved that you don’t need to blow your budget if you are organised and shop smart.

Happy shopping everyone!

I was invited to participate in the Back to School Challenge at Rockingham Centre and all purchased items were gifted. For privacy reasons I have not photographed my children in their true school uniform colours.
